Records of people on site at FDC residence

I am writing to explain some important rules about records of people onsite at FDC.

All Family Day Care (FDC) teachers must have a National police check and a Victorian Working With Children’s Check. Ignite Minds must also approve everyone who lives in each FDC. Anyone over 18 years old living in a FDC must have a current Victorian Working With Children’s Check. Ignite Minds checks these "Working With Children" cards every 3 months to make sure everyone is still safe to be around children.

Starting in August, the Department of Justice will also look at any bans given by the Department of Education when deciding if someone can work with children or if their card should be taken away.

Besides checking people who live in each FDC, Ignite Minds also keeps track of visitors to FDC homes. We must have a Visitor Record ready if someone asks for it. This record is usually kept with the signed attendance records, which are sent to Ignite Minds every week.

If you are worried about anyone living in or visiting your FDC, you can look at the Visitor Record the next time you sign in, or you can ask Ignite Minds for a copy. You can also ask the teacher directly if someone is a household resident, or contact Ignite Minds. It is the teacher's job to keep these records correct and up-to-date. It is very serious if records are not kept accurately.

We are adding details of all househould visitors and residents to the parent portal to increase visibility and accountability

We want to remind all families that if something doesn't feel right, you must say something. Nothing is too small when it comes to keeping children safe. We can look into your concerns without using your name and tell you what we find.
