Winter Craft - Family Competition
This month we are inviting you all to take part in a fun competition, Creating a Winter play scene by using natural materials. The most important thing families and educators can do is to provide time and space. Learning happens in all kinds of ways and if the family is joining in hands on activities with children it becomes real fun. In your busy schedule, allow time for unstructured, child-directed play. This is when the magic happens!
Encourage children to use play and creative processes to express their ideas, thoughts, emotions and feelings. There is no right or wrong in creative and imaginative play.
This can get messy and chaotic, so if you can, set aside a space where children don’t have to pack up at the end of an activity or at the end of the day. When they are happy with their work and satisfied that they are finished, then encourage them to pack it up.

How to enter:
- Locate some natural objects (inside or outside) that could be used in your winter scene
- Create a winter scene with your children - notice how you interact with each other and what imaginative world you enter together.
- Take some photo's of the scene you have created and you may include any photos on the way
- Share the photos and tell us what you found enjoyable on Facebook - www.facebook.com/IgniteMinds
- Complete and submit the above by August 25th 2021.
Winner will be announced in our next newsletter.
We would encourage you all to use natural materials like stones, fleece, wool, ribbons or string, fabric, twigs or sticks, flowers , seed pods, logs, sand, mud, water, blocks, straw bales, cardboard or other natural materials of your liking.
